Dan & Jackie Visit

Grandma Jackie and Grandpa Dan rounded out our visitors for the summer (and our time in Singapore). We saw a few sights, but also spent a lot of time swimming and doing our daily activities.

Of course, lots of time was spent playing inside, doing art and craft projects, and swimming in the pool. The girls definitely weren't complaining about that! Nick was just finishing night shift as they arrived, so playing was a nice way to ease into their visit.

 
 

 


We did visit Gardens by the Bay, Chinatown, and had a picnic on the bay to watch the jets practicing for National Day. Cora is not a fan of the jets, and even with sound headphones on, asked for help and started crying every time they flew over. She now says bye to the jets anytime she hears them at home.

 

 


Our neighborhood children's festival while grandma and grandpa were here, so they enjoyed watching Emmeline make a bubble wand, helping her go on a scavenger hunt, and "fish" for fish which was way too hard for little kids!

 


There's a new Dino Quest exhibit at the Science Center, which was very fun for everyone. We saw fossils, moving dinosaurs, an exploding volcano, drilled like a palentologist, and all along the way were searching for clues about what "our" dinosaur was. Everyone was given a lanyard at the beginning with a fossil that you learned about as you went through the exhibit. At the end you learned which dinosaur it was likely from, got to name and color it, and see it interact on the screen like at the ArtScience museum.

 

 


The zoo and Sentosa were also on the "must see" list. Kids got to feed the elephants again, and Cora is still not a fan, though she has warmed up to swimming in the ocean at Sentosa. We also tried prawning for the first time. We spent 55 minutes not catching anything, until literally the last second before we were going to leave when Grandma Jackie and Emmeline pulled out this prawn. Emmeline was so excited and proud that it made the hour worth it. She grilled it up and brought it home, convinced that she caught enough prawns for our shrimp tacos that night! :)

 

 

Otherwise, we visited the library and parks, including the new Lakeside Garden again. Sadly, the only pop-up storm of the whole day was right when we were at the park, so our time was cut a bit short. Emmeline also got to have another early birthday celebration.
