Christmas in Singapore

It may not feel much like Christmas when it's 85+ and humid, but Singapore does go all out for Christmas. Between heat and rain storms we managed to catch the lights and sneak in a few beach days before heading back to Wisconsin for a "proper" Christmas.

We started with a Christmas festival at Emmeline's school (the bigger campus). We met Santa (Emmeline's first year to not cry, but Corabelle took over her spot), played some fun games, and Emmeline won the cake walk.

The Orchard Road lights are Singapore's highlight every year. This year was Disney themed. Of course, it stormed right when it turned dark, so we got a bit wet, but luckily it cleared by the end. Frozen was the favorite of Emmeline.

 

 

Christmas trees abound in Singapore in December, all shapes and size in every mall and condo. The one in Takishimaya was one of my favorites.

 

One of Emmeline's favorite shows, Dinosaur Train, was at one of the local malls one afternoon. After a meet-and-greet, we played some fun carnival Christmas games and bounced in the bouncy castle (and sweated our faces off!)

I took the girls to the Gardens by the Bay Christmas event one afternoon. It was an exceptionally humid day, so we were glad to take refuge in Santa's Grotto which at the time had hardly anyone in it! We enjoyed taking pictures, playing in the train and ornaments, and seeing Santa again. Corabelle was slightly less scared this time.

 

After a free play on the bouncy house for Emmeline, we grabbed some dinner (chicken in a waffle) with the plan to stay for the snow party and the light up of the large light mural afterward. However, Emmeline had other plans for us and quickly deteriorated after dinner with a screaming fit and hitting Corabelle, which made Corabelle scream and cry. We ultimately left and just went home to bed as everyone was obviously very tired. As we were getting on the lift to our apartment, Emmeline had a massive pee accident all over the floor. What.an.afternoon. One Mom will definitely never forget!

            

Since I didn't end up getting to see the large light display, I went back after the girls were in bed, and although the crowds were huge, I enjoyed the display.

 

On our last day before heading back to Wisconsin, Emmeline had her school Christmas party. The kids sang some songs (more interested in playing the instruments than actually singing), ate food and did some crafts. So fun to be part of these events.

 
 

That afternoon we went to the aquarium with Arthur and Lola to check out the Santa diver! Santa and his elves fed the fish and rays, much to the delight of Emmeline who still talks about it!
