Western Australia, Mate! The Beaches (Part 2)

Oh the beaches! Even though it wasn't always warm enough to swim, they really were beautiful! There's a reason they're known for some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
We started with the beach closest to our first lodging, Redgate Beach. Super windy the first few days, but eventually we saw the sun come out, attempted (key word) a few family photos, and enjoyed some play time on this beach.

  

Farther to the south is Hamelin Bay, where you can often see several huge sting rays right up close to shore! We read they often will let you touch them, too. I think the season wasn't quite right for us, and they usually come to shore when fishing boats go in and out, so we didn't see any on our trip. But, that didn't stop us from enjoying the beautiful bay. The water was just a beautiful color, even with the clouds, and we had fun walking along the coast and playing in the sand. Corabelle loved the sand so much that she ate it, repeatedly. Oh boy!

 

 

 

 

Near Dunsborough, there were several amazing beaches that you could spend days at. The weather treated us to a couple of lovely days, almost summer-esque, and the water just shimmered. The pictures don't do justice to how beautiful the water was! And so clear!! After taking a bajillion photos, we spent several hours playing in the sand and enjoying the views!

 

 

 

We debated a long time whether or not to do a whale boat tour on this trip. This time of year is when the humpback whales make their migration from the south part of Australia along the western coast to Geographe Bay in the north, which is where Dunsborough is. Ultimately, we decided that Emmeline was too young to get much from it, and we weren't sure we would actually get all that close to the whales. Actually, from the beach, we were able to see quite a few whales (and dolphins) swimming along, spouting. It was pretty cool to see, and they weren't really that far off shore. It's still on our bucket list to do a whale sightseeing trip or kayak with whales, but we'll wait until the girls are a bit older and can enjoy it a bit more!

 
 

It was a perfect introduction to Australia, and makes us want to more of the country!
