Halloween in Singapore

Happy Halloween! Definitely not celebrated like it is in the US, but more so than in France. Our little bunny and carrot had a blast celebrating throughout the month.
Pumpkins cost about 4 times the price that they do in the US, so we ended up buying just a pie pumpkin to carve (which cost $11, ha!)  It ended up being the perfect size of Emmeline, and the little guy had to hang out in the fridge for the few days between carving and Halloween to avoid completely rotting in the humidity!

 

 



Emmeline chose the costumes for both her and Corabelle. Luckily, the bunny was pretty easy to make, but the carrot was a bit more complicated, especially since I left my sewing machine in the US! In the end, it turned out pretty cute (just don't look too closely at the carrot)!

 

 

We celebrated Halloween morning at Emmeline's school, where we did crafts and they had a little costume parade. Each class took turns going up front and saying what they dressed as in the microphone. Turned out not to be a popular activity, as most kids started crying when it was their turn to talk, haha!

 

At night, we made the 30 minute drive up to the Woodlands (practically in Malaysia) to an American neighborhood that closes off the street for trick-or-treating each year. It was very American style, and the houses were huge and decorated to the extreme for Halloween. Such a fun experience, and by the end Emmeline was a pro, running off on her own and using all her manners. We only made it about 45 minutes, but by 6:30 it was getting super busy anyway, so we happily headed home for bed. Only Emmeline would choose to eat edamame on the way home when there's a bucket of candy at her feet!
