We are starting to feel settled and have a bit of a routine in place which means we are trying to get out a bit more.

Sentosa is an island that’s part of the city, full of beaches, amusement parks, and all kinds of fun. Lucky for us, there’s a direct bus from our apartment there, so we decided to make a Mother’s Day beach day. The weather wasn’t quite in our favor, as it was gray and rained a bit, but it kept the temps cool. Emmeline lovesd playing in the sand the most. The ocean was not her favorite, but perhaps she’ll warm up to it as we start going more often. There are many more things we want to do on Sentosa, so I’m sure we will be back soon!

We got our car, which means we can drive places now. It’s a Mazda 5, which is actually more like a van here. Sliding doors, third row of seating, woot! Thanks Exxon for this sweet leasing deal. There’s no way we’d have a car if not for this deal, as the normal monthly rental rate is S$2000, and we pay waaaaayy less than that! It was a bit intimidating driving on the opposite side of the road, but after a few test runs we got the hang of it. It’ll take a few months of cautious driving before we fully figure it out—curbing left hand turns and the blinker are my biggest pitfalls right now!

After a few drives without kids, we ventured out to Jurong Bird Park. Such an awesome park full of birds from all over the world, and you feel like you are in the middle of the jungle just a 15 min drive from our condo! We checked out a few bird shows, the flamingos, hornbills, and parrots, and we didn’t even see everything. We bought a year pass to all 4 animal parks in Singapore, which makes it easy to visit for just a few hours each time. Next time, we are looking forward to the water park area being open as a way to cool off!
